AMD’s $ 199 Radeon RX 6500 XT is here, bringing real-time availability and affordable graphics cards back to the masses – if you can stay in stock well enough to be on store shelves for approx. suggested price, that is. This is not your general picture card though. AMD needs to tweak and tune the Radeon RX 6500 XT to (hopefully) keep cryptocurrency miners at bay and hit greedy, point-to-point share- $ 200 charge.

1. This is a great graphics card for beginner PC gamers…
PC gaming has taken a significant toll on the pandemic, but newcomers have not had a shot at investing in affordable new gear, with many graphics cards going for double MSRP or more thanks to a mixture of crunch, logistics, noise requests from cryptocurrency miners looking for profit, and more. That changed with the Radeon RX 6500 XT. Not only is this card affordable at $ 199, it will be absolutely by competitive e-sports titles at high frame rates, and play triple-A modern games at high speed using Medium to high settings at 1080p resolution. It also supports modern features such as tracing, AMD’s Smart Access Memory, FidelityFX Super Resolution, Radeon Anti-Lag, and Radeon Boost, and all but ray detection can help make graphics card work even faster. If you already have a graphics card like the GeForce GTX 1650 Super or Radeon RX 580, however, the Radeon RX 6500 XT does not provide enough of a performance boost to be a mandatory upgrade (unless you want access to those features).
2.… if you stick to what is good
Creating a $ 200 graphics card during these trying times requires AMD to switch to some unconventional design decisions. The Radeon RX 6500 XT packs 4GB of GDDR6 memory a little more than a minute 64-bit bus unheard of in modern gaming GPUs, although those memory chips are locked at a fast 18Gbps and increased by AMD’s leading Infinity cache technology. It also, somewhat surprisingly, only supports four PCIe systems rather than the normal 16.
Those resolutions mean that while the Radeon RX 6500 XT excels at what it is designed for e-sports, and the three-game in the Mid to High settings at 1080p resolution – if you draw eye candy to Ultra or fight up resolution beyond 1440p, it can run into performance issues (such as slow frame rates or lag spikes). Start at preset 1080p medium images in your favorite games and nudge knobs up from there if you have the opportunity.
3. It is designed to avoid crypto miners
AMD also announced the exclusive Radeon RX 6400 card to pre-built settings, including slow clock speeds and very low power shooting.

While many AMD design choices are no doubt hitting the $ 199-rated price of the Radeon RX 6500 XT, it is more complicated than that when it comes to memory system. If the global GPU is not crazy right now, the release of 1080p graphics card with 4GB of RAM and 64-bit bus in 2022 will get AMD laughing at the city. But in today’s wild graphics card market, these limited specifications are almost genuine features, as the memory configuration will make the Radeon RX 6500 XT unappealing for Ethereum mining, the popular cryptocurrency fueling a lot of sky-high graphics demand card. Ethereum excels at memory bandwidth, and mining requires your graphics card to have more than 4GB of memory.
“There are a lot of potential factors in the availability of GPUs we have,” Vice President Radeon Laura Smith told PCWorld as part of a small table with reporters during CES. “We have definitely optimized this to be profitable in the first place…. You can see that with the way the section is configured. Even with the four gigs of frame storage, that is a really nice frame size for most triple-A games, but it is not impressive even if you are doing some kind of blockchain or mining activities. We have tried to make some game-first changes for things that we do not control, but we are influenced, to increase that card to find as much as possible to use the players. ”
We’ll see if that means widespread availability at your suggested $ 199 price point, but the Radeon RX 6500 XT has a better shoot than today’s graphics cards in real-time. 4. Do not worry about using Radeon RX 6500 XT in older PC
After its introduction, gamers worry that the four PCIe lanes of the Radeon RX 6500 XT will mean terrible work on any gaming PC for more than a few years. That is because those methods work best on modern computers running the PCIe 4.0 interface much faster. Older PCs have PCIe 3.0, and people fear that the information, combined with the minimum number of available channels, will keep frame rates down.
Using the Radeon RX 6500 XT in PCIe 3.0 mode does not ruin performance as some gamers fear, if you use intelligent graphics systems for this GPU.

Destroyer: It does, but not to the point of worrying about most games, thanks to the help hand provided by the GDDR6 speed AMD chips and 16MB of Infinity Cache on the chip. Across our 11 game test suite, we found two great exits –Rainbow Six Garbage performed identically on both PCIe 3 and 4, while Total War: Troy suffered a significant 18.4 percent loss over PCIe 3.0 — but otherwise, gains are averaging 6.4 percent slower in PCIe 3.0 mode. That is noticeable but does not change the value proposition of the graphics card significantly. It is also often in the same performance as GPUs such as the Radeon RX 580 and 5500 XT, or Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1060 6GB and GTX 1650, regardless of the type of PCIe version used.
That said, you need to keep in mind the use of the Radeon RX 6500 XT in mind. Stick to Medium to high definition graphics programs in 1080p and say only things as you can. If you try to play on Ultra systems in hard games, or at a resolution of 1440p, it is possible to exceed the 4GB frame storage on this card and if late happens on PCIe 3.0, lag spikes and performance slowdowns can get real nasty, real fast.
5. Other missing features
AMD also removed other features from its claim to hit the $ 199 price point, although the company said most people did not use this bracket. Radeon RX 6500 XT does not convert AV1 as well as H.264 and H.265 / HEVC codecs. (There are H.264 and H.265 converters, though.) AMD also only slaps only HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort connections on this GPU. The combination means that the Radeon RX 6500 XT will not be a great choice for home theater PCs, and people looking to stream their gaming consoles will probably want to look elsewhere as well.
